Food and wine matching is something that often perplexes even the greatest gastronomes. That's why we have turned to the celebrated food and drink writer Matthew Fort for his suggestions. Matthew has provided his tips on food and wine matching, suggested recipes with wine pairings and advice on how to prepare your wine for each season's offerings.

Matthew was Food and Drink editor of The Guardian for over fifteen years. He has also written several books including Rhubarb and Black Pudding (1998), about the food of Paul Heathcote, the Lancastrian Michelin-starred chef; Eating up Italy: Voyages on a Vespa (2004), described by Giorgio Locatelli as 'Jack Kerouac meets Elizabeth David'; and its sequel Sweet Honey, Bitter Lemons (2008) about Sicily, which won the Premio Sicilia Madre Mediterranea. Recently he has been on television as one of the presenters of Market Kitchen (Good Food Channel) and is a judge on Great British Menu (BBC2).

He has been the Glenfiddich Food Writer of the Year, Glenfiddich Restaurant Writer of the Year and Glenfiddich Cookery Writer of the Year, The Restauranteurs' Association Food Writer of the Year and was awarded the Premio Antico Corte Pallavicina in 2008.
