Churchill’s Late Bottled Vintage Port
Oporto
2001
Johnny Graham of the Grahams port family founded Churchill’s in the 1980s, the first new Port Shippers in Oporto for 100 years. Johnny is acknowledged as the best blender and taster of port in the business and his 'boutique' firm produces some of the best and most individual ports made today. His 2001 LBV which is unfiltered is a cut above those produced by the big shippers. It is rich—and highly recommended as being as close to traditional vintage port as you will get at a fraction of the price.

Our tasting notes
Full fragrant aromas with red berry fruits, violets and a hint of plums and molasses: it is rich and rounded with a touch of pepper and tea leaves. Lots of character, a classically drinkable port. Very well made and delicious as an aperitif as well as after lunch or dinner. In Oporto it is drunk during dinner with meat or game.Wine data

About LBV and Oporto
LBV is bottled after being aged in oak for 4 years rather than 2 years and is not filtered so as not to strip out any of the flavours. The British port trade in Oporto is centered around the 'Factory House,' a wonderful dilapidated building where the newspapers are kept for 20 years. There are two dining rooms for every meal: the first for the food which is consumed quickly before the members retire to an identical dining room to linger over their port.
