Château du Glana | Saint-Julien, Bordeaux
2002
A fine Cru Bourgeois from St-Julien in the Médoc. This is exactly what you would expect from thoroughly good, well-made claret from the excellent 2002 vintage. Very good value for money and drinking now (we recommend opening the bottle 1/2 hour before you drink it).

Our tasting notes
A deep red/purple colour with a complex and richly developing nose. Berry fruits, good concentration with the Cabernet showing through. Well balanced with a good, full finish. A fine example of a delicious 2002 that is developing well. Great dinner party claret with meat or game.Wine data

About Bordeaux
Since Roman times the world's largest and most famous wine region—the Latin poet Ausonius had a vineyard here, hence Château Ausone. However the most famous Grands Crus represent just 5% of the total production; there are more than 5000 châteaux and many hundreds of communal wines. The 1855 classification of Grands Crus and Crus Bourgeois is no longer an entirely reliable guide, with some Crus Bourgois wines clearly of classed growth quality and vice versa. Most recently some 70 Crus Bourgeois have been declassified, with some suing. 2002 was a late harvest in Bordeaux with the best wines coming from the Left Bank "The Medoc."
