Mark Haisma | Bourgogne Rouge

2009

A very serious and superior Bourgogne Rouge from the excellent 2009 vintage—Mark is one of the stars of the new wave of producers in Burgundy. In a recent profile on him Jancis Robinson MW said “He seems to have struck gold. His wines have an excellent balance between fruit, expression and refreshment without being in any way wimpish.” Now in some of the top London restaurants (Ledbury, Harwood Arms and Zuma) this wine is a significant step up from most generic Bourgognes and is great value.

A lovely, elegant and well structured red Bourgogne rouge. Good concentrated cherry fruit, with refreshing but well balanced acidity. Should provide excellent drinking over the next 5 years.

About Mark Haisma
Mark is starting to attract real attention in the world of fine Burgundy. The son of a French mother and Australian father, he cut his teeth at top Australian estate, Yerra Yering. It was here, under the tutelage of Dr Carrodus, that Mark started to become really interested in the Pinot grape. In spite of his new world training Mark’s wines are all about ‘elegance and acidity.’ Sadly, he still only produces very small quantities, so we recommend you snap these up quickly.
