Haut Charmes | Sauternes
2009 in bottles, 2010 in half bottles A tiny parcel of the surplus production from the most famous of all Sauternes vineyards. The Château does not make a second sweet wine, so this is made with the same noble grapes as the Grand Vin—which are picked individually on 7-10 separate occasions as the botrytis sets in—and are then aged in oak at the Château. 2009 was one of the great Sauternes vintages (2010 was also an exceptional Sauternes vintage) and the Grand Vin produced a legendary wine that will be talked about for decades. It will though currently cost you £500+ for a single 75cl bottle. This however is Nectar at a very affordable price.
