1 bottle Collalbrigo Brut Prosecco NV
The best Prosecco on the market, found for us by the Ciprianis of the Locanda Cipriani on the island of Torcello in the Venetian lagoon. Bright, small bubbles with a fresh, invigorating nose with hints of apple. This is a refreshing and thoroughly drinkable Processo, which Simon Hoggart describes as ‘Champagne quality at half the price'.

1 bottle Cascina Chicco, ‘Granera Alta’ Barbera d’ Alba DOC 2008
A lovely, lush Barbera from Cascina Chicco, one of Piedmont’s top producers. Rich and opulent with flavours of ripe cherry, hints of spice and well balanced acidity this wine is drinking perfectly now and is an excellent food wine. A bargain at under £10 a bottle.

2 bottles Boirà Pinot Grigio Veneto 2008
A delightful fresh, totally organic, oak-aged Pinot Grigio from the Veneto region in Italy. A full-bodied wine with excellent balance and a good lingering finish.

1 bottle Tregole Chianti Classico, Chianti 2004
At last we have found a really good, estate-bottled Chianti Classico from the Conte family's estate 'Fattoria Tregole' just outside Castellina in Chianti. This is from the 2004 vintage, which was hugely successful in Tucscany and is 100% Sangiovese—elegant, delicious and not over extracted as has been the recent trend. This is proper, high-class Chianti.

1 bottle Rosso del Palazzone Montalcino NV
This new blend of vintages (2005 & 2008—both fabulous vintages) from the excess production of Il Palazzone’s Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino is even better than the last. Deep purple with a rich fruit and spice driven nose. Intense flavours of ripe fruit linger in a very long finish. A stunning bargain.

1 bottle Prà Soave Classico 2009
This Soave Classico from Pràis without question one of the highest quality Soaves—not to be confused with supermarket Soaves, which are altogether different and vastly inferior. Made with passion by Sergio and Graziano Prà this is a serious wine, and great value for money.

1 bottle Rocca di Tufo Orvieto Classico 2007
A stunning, crisp and refreshing white produced specially for us by master wine maker Giovanni Dubini at the Palazzone estate. This is the best Orvieto we have ever tasted. It is a serious wine that will improve with age. A benchmark for quality and very good value.

1 bottle Valpolicella Classico 2007
A lovely Valpolicella Classico from the steepest slopes of Fumane in the heart of the Valpolicella valley. Beautifully made rich, intense & modern wine from the Pasini family. Good body and length—all the signs of a well made wine. The Wine Gang describe it as “food friendly and Moorish”.

1 bottle Castello di Potentino ‘Sacromonte’, Montecucco Rosso 2005
This excellent Tuscan red made by the highly talented Charlotte Horton is causing a stir in the Italian wine world. 100% Sangiovese it is wonderfully floral, spiced and elegant and, according to Mike Tipping is ‘quite serious stuff for under a tenner’.

1 bottle Cassa Chicco, ‘Anterisio’ Roero Arneis 2009
The Arneis grape is fast growing in popularity amongst consumers and wine writers alike. Cascina Chicco, located on a beautiful hillside in Piedmont, is one of the very top producers in Roero, the home of Arneis. Over the years they have developed a strong reputation for producing very delicate, complex and perfumed wines and this wine is no exception.

1 bottle Castello di Potentino ‘Lyncurio’ GT Toscana 2009
Created by talented oenologist Charlotte Horton, a white wine made from 100% Pinot Noir. This is a delicious, complex, faintly pink wine. Notes of rose petal, a hint of spice and cherries. Medium bodied with floral flavours, green apple and a hint of cream, all well balanced with lovely crisp acidity.

1 bottle Sesti Buona Fede Montalcino 2002
This 2002 Buona Fede—'good faith'—is a rich 100% Sangiovese oak-aged wine created by man of the stars, Giugi Sesti. A bio-dynamic wine it is made strictly by the laws of nature. The result is a deep burnt red with aromas of chocolate and fruit. A very classy wine in a beautiful bottle.
