The Press
'(This summer 50 best-value French buys) Côtes de Gascogne is not all just cheap and cheerful. La Chappelle is a cut above….a fresh, youthful white that’s is peachy and citrusy.' —Decanter Magazine Wine of the Week—'I just love this little wine from the Vin de Pays de Côtes de Gascogne, a blend of typical Colombard, Gros Manseng and Ugni Blanc with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Screw-capped for freshness, it has a delicate but aromatic nose that at first seems dominated by the grassy and elderflower character of the Sauvignon, but then an undertow of peachy fruit and lemon rind adds interest. On the palate it is punchy and vibrant, but it is not the more obvious asparagus and green bean punch of Sauvignon, but a decisive, mouthwatering panoply of citrus, white fruit and minerals with masses of zest and life. I drank this to great effect with an asparagus and pea risotto.' —Tom Cannavan, Wine-Pages, 21th June, 2009 'The Best Summer Wine Deals: Excellent value lemony crisp Chardonnay-based Côtes de Gascogne from the Midi-Pyrenee.' —Rose Murray Brown, The Scotsman, June 2009 'Seems at first sniff to be yet another Sauvignon, but it quickly broadens out in a more satisfying and interesting bowl of fruit. Lovely, fresh-tasting and only 11.5%.' —Bob Tyrer, Sunday TimesOur tasting notes

About Gascogny
The beautiful and peaceful region of Gascony is famed for its foie gras and Armagnac but it is also an area of France that is now producing very good affordable wine. It is ‘the’ white wine to drink in Paris bars and bistros. Côtes de Gascogne is a ‘Vin de Pays’ wine region located in the Midi-Pyrénées which principally produces white wine from vines planted in Alluvial soil with clay and sand.
