Our tasting notes
Brilliant ruby red in colour, with a nose of ripe, juicy red fruits. Redcurrants, violets, herbs and vanilla are reflected in the well balanced palate with some soft ripe tannins and balanced acidity. A lovely accompaniment to gigot of lamb.
Wine data
Grape variety: 40% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 30% Carignan
About Roussillon
Although the area of Roussillon is commonly associated with the Languedoc, it is in fact in the département of Pyrenees-Orientales, which as the name suggests is in the eastern side of the Pyrenees, thereby giving very different topography and growing conditions from the flat plains of the Languedoc itself. Different in culture too, its inhabitants are Catalan rather than French, and some of the appellation controlee rules governing wines from Roussillon (such as lower yields) have more in common with those from Spain than the Languedoc.

The climate is France's sunniest with warm winds, accentuating the grape ripening process, ideal for producing ripe and robust red wines with a mellow character.
