In the hunt for our first Malbec from Argentina we eventually found this very fine example from the Correas family. Produced on their vineyard in Mendoza which undoubtedly produces the World's best Malbec.This wine is a Robert parker ‘Best Buy’ with a score of 91 points. An extraordinarily high rating for a wine at under £10. Packed full of intense, dark fruit this is a serious Malbec and a great entry point to the wines of Argentina. As you’d expect, this goes brilliantly with steak!

Our tasting notes

Intense, brilliant ruby colour. On the nose there’s lots of red fruit, violets and chocolates. Lovely, smooth tannins, hints of vanilla from the oak, and lots of rich, complex and spiced fruit. A very long finish. Overall a very well made, delicious wine.

About Mendoza

Mendoza is the most important wine region in Argentina, accounting for almost 70% of the country’s production. Situated in the far west of the country, Mendoza, practically borders Chile. The climate is continental but with cooler, higher areas where grapes like Chardonnay are increasingly grown. The region is however almost synonomous with Malbec, the ubiquitous grape of Argentina. In Mendoza it is at its best, growing on the loose alluvial and clay soil, and is capable of producing wines of great complexity and character.
