Margaux | Margaux Bordeaux

2004

SOLD OUT

A spectacular parcel of a wine declassified from one of the most famous Cru Classé in Margaux whose wine normally sells for £1000+ a case and has a great following in the UK. This is very high-class Claret indeed that it is just beginning to drink really well now and will last for many years.

75cl Bottle: £15.65 | Case of 12: £187.80

Our tasting notes
Deep, intense purple, with a nose of concentrated Margaux fruit. The wine is a very fine mouthful with rich blackberry flavours—a big wine that still retains its Margaux delicacy. Very well made—a really delicious wine.

About Margaux
Margaux is the most Southerly of the four great Medoc appellations, with more classed growths in the 1855 classification than any other appellation. The wines normally have a higher percentage of the early maturing, lush Merlot grape in their Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend than their more northerly neighbours, and as Jancis Robinson writes in the Oxford Companion to Wine,"potentially the most seductive of the Haut-Medoc." Robert Parker writes too that "The bouquet of a fine Margaux is unquestionably more intense and compelling than those found in the wines of St-Julien, Pauillac and St-Estephe." As a result, the wines from Margaux tend to be more delicate and scented.

We are not allowed for legal reasons to name the Château from where this wine came from, although with a bit of due diligence it is perhaps not that difficult to work out!
