Markus Molitor Riesling Trocken
Mosel-Saar-Ruwer
2008
A very impressive dry Riesling from eccentric and much-heralded Mosel producer Markus Molitor. Light in alcohol with lovely fresh citric flavours, this is a perfect foil for spicy food. At under £10 this is superb value for money.

The Press
‘Beautiful varietal characters with notes of lime and apple and hint of apricot. Crisp on the palate supported by a slatey minerality and a refreshing structure.’ — Decanter Magazine 'Riesling is a hopelessly unfashionable grape variety, which helps keep its price low. The nose is dominated by citrusy lemon and lime flavours, while the length has a pleasing, long acidity. The flavours are strong enough to enjoy a glass in a wild country garden.'—Will Lyons, The Scotsman, 1/5/10Our tasting notes
Presenting intense lemon and lime flavours with ripe fruit and good acidity and balance, this wine is absolutely calling out for some really good seafood.Wine data

About Riesling
Riesling is undoubtedly one of the world’s most misunderstood and underrated grape varieties. Originating from the Rhine region, Riesling is currently grown in Germany, Austria, eastern France, northern Italy, Australia, New Zealand and other regions that have a relatively mild climate, producing a an extraordinary range from bone dry to viscous sweet wines. Fine Rieslings are on the whole light in alcohol, very high in natural acidity and able to express their terroir in a way no other white grape variety can. They also have superb potential for ageing, especially the sweet wines like German Trockenbeerenauslese.
