Domaine Octavie | Sauvignon Touraine
2010
A wonderful, fresh, aromatic Sauvignon from Isabelle and Noe Roubally, who produce very high quality wines in small quantities and with a minimal use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. This is simply the best Sauvignon Blanc we have tasted from Touraine. A very acceptable alternative to Sancerre at a much lower price—great value.

The Press
'This Sauvignon Blanc from Touraine is a star, summer quaffer. Intended to be drunk young and fresh, this zingy offering fits the bill perfectly. A Loire Sauvignon with more than a nod to modern New World tastes, this one is brimming with tropical fruit, drenched with juicy lime and grapefruit, and ending on a crisp and sprightly finish.'—Katherine Donnelly, Irish Independent on Saturday, 17th July 2010
Our tasting notes
Pale light golden colour. Very fresh, crisp and minerally with strong citric and gooseberry flavours and great balance. This is a very clean sauvignon that is certainly not lacking in fruit. Ideal with fish, white meat or for summer quaffing.Wine data

About Touraine
Centred around the city of Tours, Touraine is the most important wine region in the Loire. It produces a fine selection of reds, from such renowned appellations as Bourgueil, Chinon and St-Nicolas-de-bourgueil, and whites, from Vouvray and Montlouis. The soil and climate varies greatly throughout, as do the grape varieties: Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Pinot Gris, Malbec and perhaps most famously Sauvignon Blanc are all grown in this relatively small region. Sauvignon de Touraine from good producers like Domaine Octavie is often seen as an affordable alternative to the more illustrious, and expensive, whites of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume.
