WINE OF THE MONTH—‘This property has vineyards in Rasteau and Cairanne—both 'names' villages in the Côtes du Rhône-Villages appellation. Hailing from the former, this is vibrant and powerful, with breezy Grenache fruit, completed by earthy touches.’—Decanter Magazine ‘A cracking wine this, with five years minimum ahead of it.’—The Wine GangOur tasting notes
Deep purple with notes of strawberries, cherries and a hint of wild plums. Full bodied with a mix of fruit flavours- compote of plum, fig and blackberry. Good rich finish. Robert recommends it with beef, lamb and olives, fresh cepes with garlic and a cherry tart.Wine data

About Coteaux des Travers
In the small village of Rasteau, north of Orange and Vaison la Romaine, for over a century the Charavin family has run the Rasteau Domaine des Coteaux des Travers, with Robert Charavin’s father, Elie having tended the vineyard since 1931. The 10 Hectare Rasteau vines grow in soil that is strong and well exposed and they no longer use chemical pesticides, and since 2007 have made wine on entirely organic agricultural principles.Rasteau is widely regarded as one of the 2 best (with Cairanne) of the 20 Cotes du Rhône–Villages.
