The Red Burgundy Mixed Case
75cl Bottles, Case of 12: £182.00
A wonderful Pinot Noir made from vines just outside the village of Pommard, one of the very best red Burgundy appellations. As with Bordeaux 2009 was a cracking vintage in Burgundy and at lower end of the price range there is some fantastic value to fine. This wine’s far cry from the usual thin Pinot Noirs one normally finds for under £11, this is full bodied, rich and will be drinking very well for the next 4-5 years. Stunning value! 3 bottles Chorey-les-Beaune "Marvine" Burgundy 2008
An exceptional Pinot Noir from the heart of Burgundy—the tiny and much sought after appellation of Chorey-les-Beaune. A wine that is hard to find and when you can it is exceptional value for money. ‘This rich, youthful nose has pleasant dashes of spice lurking in the background and these pleasant fleshy characters are repeated in the mouth. It has a distinct sense of place.’ —Wine of the Month, Decanter, May 2008. ‘It is a great Pinot Noir, delicate and fragrant, so you should snap up your share.’ —The Spectator, April 2008. 3 bottles Aloxe-Corton "Beloix" Côte de Beaune 2008
This is wonderfully rich, ripe, very fine red Burgundy that is drinking well now and will continue to improve for another 5 years. The 2008 vintage is very good indeed. We would have taken 10 times this amount had it been made. A spectacular tiny parcel of great red Burgundy that would normally command a far higher price—exceptional value.
3 bottles Mark Haisma, Bourgogne Rouge 2009
A very serious and superior Bourgogne Rouge from the excellent 2009 vintage—Mark is one of the stars of the new wave of producers in Burgundy. In a recent profile on him Jancis Robinson MW said “He seems to have struck gold. His wines have an excellent balance between fruit, expression and refreshment without being in any way wimpish.” Now in some of the top London restaurants (Ledbury, Harwood Arms and Zuma) this wine is a significant step up from most generic Bourgognes and is great value.
