Ronan | Bordeaux
2009
A terrific Pomerol in all but name from the iconic Château Clinet. Named after managing director Ronan Laborde and vinified by their renowned winemaking team, this is pure Merlot. From the outstanding 2009 vintage, it is remarkably forward and both a serious and delicious wine to be found on the wine lists of many top Paris restaurants. At under £10 a bottle it is an absolute bargain.
The Press
Matthew Jukes: Wines like this do not come along very often, particularly from Bordeaux, so think of Ronan as this year's eureka claret and pick up the phone now. GQ Wine of the Month: "Extraordinary value, this. One hundred percent Merlot from an outstanding vintage. Great now, it can only get better."Our tasting notes
Deep red ruby with a rich and powerful Merlot stewed fruit-driven nose. Great concentration, a long finish and drinking well already. Very well made, as you would expect from Château Clinet.Wine data

About Château Clinet
Under the guidance of luminary oenologist Michel Rolland, this small Pomerol estate has become one of the most highly regarded of Right Bank Châteaux. This reputation was further entrenched when earlier in the year Robert Parker awarded their 2009 vintage an extraordinary 100 points. Despite being a rather modest looking 9 Ha estate Château Clinet got off to an illustrious start. In the early 19th Century it was owned by the Arnaud family, the same family that owned Petrus, and these two wines were considered the stars of Pomerol. Sadly, however, the Château’s fortunes turned and from the 1860s it was sold from family to family over short periods of time, inevitably resulting in a drop in quality. Finally, in the mid 20th Century the Clinet came to the Audy family through marriage, and it was under them that the Château began to reemerge as a cult producer. Michel Rolland was brought in as the oenologist in 1985 and in 1989 and 1990 the estate produced what Robert Parker called “the incredible duo”. Since then the estate has gone from strength to strength.Prices are all-inclusive for deliveries to UK mainland.
