Château Teyssier | Saint Emilion Grand Cru
2007 (In Wooden Cases)
High quality St Emilion Grand Cru is almost impossible to find at this price, especially not from a property of the class of Château Teyssier. Teyssier is owned and run by the dynamic Jonathan Maltus, producer of top St Emilion Garage wine Le Dome, which sells for over £1,000 a case, and he is assisted in the production by Gilles Pauquet, the oenologist to Cheval Blanc. It should cost at least £5 more a bottle and is a real bargain for a wine that will provide excellent drinking over the next 5-7 years. Exceptional value.

‘Dark red, clean and fresh fruit, fragrant and well-contained, good length and savoury balance, nice sense of place.’—Steven Spurrier, DecanterOur tasting notes
Good deep red-purple hue. On the nose there is lots of fruit and hints of smoke and toasty oak. Plums, minerality and a hint of spice on the palate. This is rich, elegant with fine tannins and great freshness. Already drinking really well.Wine data

About Château Teyssier
Based in the commune of Vignonet Château Teyssier has been producing wine since the 1700s. At one stage in the nineteenth century it was the largest estate in the neighbourhood.Since then it has been bought by maverick producer Jonathan Maltus and a completely new team has transformed the wine and the estate. Renovation in every sense—estate, vineyard, winery, barrel cellar, and the fundamental approach to making wine means that Château Teyssier is widely regarded as a new-wave, modern-style wine from Saint Emilion.
It now has something of a cult following for being a really good Grand Cru that is consistently under £20 a bottle.
