1 bottle Mas Carlot Cuvée Tradition Costières de Nîmes, Rhône 2008
Our new find from the Costières de Nîmes in the Southern Rhône. Robert Parker says it all: 'this excellent estate continues to turn out superb bargain priced wines that consumers should seek out for relief from increasingly higher priced wines'. Stunning young fresh wine—if only all wine at this price level could be as good as this. Drink lots of it!

1 bottle Château Canuet, Margaux Bordeaux 1999
Highly drinkable and mature claret from the younger vines from carefully selected parcels within the vineyards of Cantenac-Brown, the famous Margaux 3rd growth. Wine guru Robert Parker believes that, along with 2000, 'the 1999 is potentially one of the very best Cantenac-Browns produced in 2-3 decades' —the same of course applies to its 2nd wine! This is great Claret with all the classic elegance and full body that one expects of a really good Margaux and will be perfect for drinking over the next 2-3 years. The ideal, affordable dinner party wine.

1 bottle La Reserve Claret Bordeaux 2006
Our house claret selected from Saint Emilion vineyards and blended exclusively for us by larger than life Jonathan Maltus, producer of Château Teyssier and Le Dôme, one of Saint Emilion’s greatest (and most expensive) wines. This is a really superb everyday wine and is much more than just a normal claret.

1 bottle Château Peyrabon Haut-Médoc Bordeaux 2004
A really good Cru Bourgeois where the vines grow on sandy gravel. This property owned by the Bernard family is an example of how to make fabulous claret using great terroir combined with the latest in traditional modern technology (minimal intervention—for example vertical wine presses which are gentle and rely on gravity). The wines from Château Peyrabon win awards whenever they are shown. Their 2004 is no exception.

1 bottle La Famiglia Sicily 2006
A very special Italian wine from the foothills of Mount Etna in Sicily, made by legendary winemaker Peter Vinding-Diers especially for us from Nero d'Avola, the Sicilian red grape. This is delicious and a very fine wine—beautifully made by a 'Master' who brought Château Rahoul in Bordeaux to prominence.

1 bottle Domaine de la Tourade "Font des Aïeux" Gigondas 2006
A stunning wine from a vineyard just below the summit of Gigondas. The soil is rocky, red and inhospitable, making the vines struggle with every grape to produce this remarkable wine. It deserves its stellar rating of 3 stars in the Guide Hachette des Vins.

1 bottle Mas de Cadenet Sainte Victoire Côtes de Provence 2007
This award winning Rosé from the foothills of Sainte Victoire can be found in some of the very best Michelin starred restaurants throughout France, and with good reason. It is exactly what you would expect of a very serious Provencal Rosé: dry, wonderfully delicate, with a lovely salmon colour and a complex fruit and floral bouquet. We will be drinking lots of it this summer. Stunning value for a wine of this caliber.

1 bottle Markus Molitor Riesling Trocken Mosel-Saar-Ruwer 2007
A very impressive dry Riesling from eccentric and much-heralded Mosel producer Markus Molitor. 2007 was one of the best vintages in Mosel-Saar-Ruwer of the last 20 years and combined with Marcus's wine making skills, the result speaks for itself. At under £10 this is superb value for money.

1 bottle Domaine de la Motte Chablis Premier Cru Beauroy 2006
Possibly the best value 1er cru Chablis on the market, made by the Michaut family from grapes grown on the Beauroy slopes. This is beautifully fresh, minerally Chardonnay that is just calling out for grilled fish, shellfish or, as Le Guide Hachette des Vins recommends, snails and butter. A bargain.

1 bottle Saint-Véran White Burgundy 2007
A wonderful creamy rich St-Véran from the Burgundian House of Pierre Janny that has won countless awards including 2 stars in the Guide Hachette des Vins, France's no 1 selling wine guide. The wine is everything you would expect...and more.

1 bottle Tagonius Tinto Roble Vinos de Madrid 2006
A remarkable and delicious find from the Tagonius winery just outside Madrid, this is even better than their 2004 vintage. After tasting hundreds of moderate wines, a discovery like this makes it all worthwhile! Up until now this wine has only really found its way to the best restaurants in Madrid, Barcelona and San Sebastien. It is a far better wine than anything we have tasted so far from neighbouring Rioja. Robert Parker rightly sings its praises—it is remarkable value for money.

1 bottle Chateau Faîteau Minervois La Liviniére Languedoc 2005
A fabulous, well made syrah based wine from the Languedoc’s first cru-designated appellation. With the elegance and finesse of a northern Rhone wine this offering from Jean Michel Arnaud bowled us over when we first tasted it. This is very serious southern French wine that is drinking perfectly at the moment and will continue to improve.
