A glorious White Burgundy from the tiny village of Puligny, in the heart of Burgundy, next door to the Grand Cru Montrachet, often considered the greatest of all white Burgundies. A wonderful creamy rich St-Véran from the Burgundian House of Pierre Janny that has won countless awards including 2 stars in the Guide Hachette des Vins, France's no 1 selling wine guide. 2 bottles Pierre Olivier, Mercurey 2005
A lovely, rich and mature Chardonnay from the Côte Challonaise region of Burgundy, where the Mercurey wines stand alone in both quality and price. 2005 was a very good vintage in the region and this wine is now at its peak for the next couple of years. Tastes like much more expensive Burgundy. A Bargain.
2 bottles Domaine Eugenie Carrion, Chablis 2009
We have hunted for two years for a really good Chablis (rather than a 1er cru) which is a cut above the normality of most Chablis and Petit Chablis. We finally stumbled across this lovely, crisp offering from the small, family owned Domaine Eugenie Carrion.
Good Pouilly Fuissé is very good, indeed the finest of all Macon (not to be confused with the Loire's Pouilly Fumé). The New World cannot make Chardonnay like this—and it is exceptional value for money.
2 bottles Jean-Francois Protheau Rully Premier Cru ‘Les Grésigny’ 2008
From a tiny vineyard this Premier Cru Rully is soft, luscious and full of flavour. Drinking brilliantly well, this will remain at its peak for at least another 3 years.
