2019 Crozes-Hermitage 'Les Meysonniers', M. Chapoutier
Available En Primeur
The organically grown grapes for Michel Chapoutier's Crozes-Hermitage Les Meysonniers are cultivated on gently sloping, south-facing hillsides, composed of Isère river sedimentary soils and large round pebbles. One of four red Crozes releases produced by the estate, the 2019 offers notions of black cherry and tapanade together with creme de cassis, red cherry and lavender. On the palate there is generousity, whilst there is a delightful silky texture and exceptional length.
It is hard to know where to start when discussing Michel Chapoutier. He is without question one of the world's greatest winemaking forces and though he holds vineyards around the world, it is back home in the Northern Rhone where the shining epogees of his art burn brightest. His Selection Parcellaires which showcase the greatest terroirs under his ownership are simply awe-inspiring. I have to say Robert Parker got it so right when he said "Michel Chapoutier has through his genius, the faith of his convictions and backbreaking attention to detail in his vineyards and in the winery ...become a beacon of inspiration and quality for the entire world. In short, every wine consumer in the world should admire his accomplishments. We urge you to experience here his exceptional 2019 releases.
