Château Moulin-St-Georges, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2020
Available En Primeur
Another day, another exciting St Emilion 2020 released. We have superstar Château Ausone’s stablemates being launched on the market, and the brightest star of this constellation is Château Moulin-St-Georges.
Expertly crafted by Alain Vauthier’s winemaking team, the excellent terroir at their disposal (the Moulin-St-Georges vineyard neatly nestles on the south-west facing slope between Ausone and La Gaffelière, on the way to Pavie) delivers a wine of stunning value for money year in, year out. Low yields, hand-harvesting, a thoughtful winemaking approach and oak regime produce a wine of great expression and tension, with superb aromatics that compliment a naturally rich texture and concentrated core of fruit you would expect from great merlot. The limestones terroirs reign supreme in this vintage, and it is clear to see here.
"So full of deeply-drawn berry fruit, fresh and juicy with touches of liquorice bud and rosemary, thirst quenching and yet thirst inducing in that amazing way that limestone can both refresh and make you thirst for more at the same time. An excellent Moulin St Georges, and such a step up from the more sandy soils that you find at Fonbel and the two Simard estates in this year's range of Vauthier-owned wines that this alone can help you understand how to navigate 2020. Drinking Window 2026 - 2040"
