Mas Carlot Rouge, Cuvée Tradition, Costières de Nîmes 2016
Costières de Nîmes, south west of Châteauneuf-du-Pape can produce wonderful wines at a fraction of the price of its northern neighbour. The Mas Carlot vineyard was founded by the King of Naples' French Admiral Grasset in the 18th century. Robert Parker writes 'this excellent estate continues to turn out superb bargain priced wines that consumers should seek out for relief from increasingly higher priced wines'.
Tasting note: Each glass gives a dark, brooding and intense nose which is highly expressive. The wine is chewy, full of rich, ripe concentrated sun-dried berry fruits, hints of sweetness, honey and a great finish. This is a very well made wine and absolutely delicious. It will be great anywhere from a dinner party to a beach BBQ.
