Château Berliquet, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2002
My personal lockdown treat - Château Berliquet 2002 from Saint-Émilion. This is a very fine claret at its peak right now and everything you expect from a mature Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.
Château Berliquet lies on the upper southern slopes of Saint-Émilion next to Château Canon, this famous appellation's new superstar. Château Berliquet was bought by Chanel who also own Canon in 2017, so expect the price to skyrocket!
"Berliquet is a unique terroir, the [24 acres] are in one single block on the best exposition, west/southwest and 100 percent on the limestone plateau. It's 100 percent in line with our style and the type of terroir we know and love very much. Chanel
The wines come in wooden cases of 6 bottles and we only have 20 cases available. After 17 years of careful maturation, this is a remarkable bargain. You too should treat yourself!
