Château d'Esclans Garrus Rosé 2018 In Bond

75cl bottle: £69.00

Magnum 150cl bottle: £138.00

Double Magnum 300cl bottle: £276.00

This is the world's leading rosé and the top rated, reviewed and scored wine we have ever sold at From Vineyards Direct. Garrus is comparable in style to some of the finest white Burgundy wines out there. Yes, the price is on the high side, but this is worth it! Especially with the opportunity to grab it en primeur and save on  the price when the retail stock comes in.

“Best rosé in the world? I’m impressed!” Jancis Robinson (Master of Wine)

“This is as fine a rosé as you will ever find” Jonathan Ray (The Spectator)

"Garrus is simply the best rosé that exists. It is the top wine made at Château d’Esclans and is quite as good as it gets." 20/20 Points, Matthew Jukes (on the 2015 vintage)

Chateau d’Esclans is located on an exceptional site, on elevated land near the Gorges de Pennafort, twenty five kilometers northwest of the ancient Roman city of Frejus on the Mediterranean coast. The first traces of the chateau’s site date back to Gaullist times during which its location served as a lookout point to spot intruders coming by boat into the Gulf of Frejus. The chateau’s cellar structure or foundation (known today as the oldest in the region) housed an original Chateau that was given by the Comte de Provence to Gérard De Villeneuve, in 1201. The current chateau, inspired by Tuscan Villa design, was built during the mid 19th century. In 2006, Château d’Esclans produced for the first time a few barrels of rosé from a vineyard of 80-years-old vines atop a hill in Provence. A new chapter had begun in the world of rosé.

“Amazing aromas of earth, mushroom, stone, mineral and slate. Flowers too. Full-bodied and round yet agile and dynamic. Flavors of delicate strawberry, apple, lemon and mineral. Salty. Linear, energetic backbone of acidity. Barrel fermented and aged for almost a year. From mostly old vine Grenache and rolle. Super structure and impressive finish. This will be even better in 2016 but great now. Greatest rosé ever.” 98 Points James Suckling

“I cannot believe that rosé wine can get any finer nor any more captivating than this wine. I have left a half a point off my score in order that owner / winemaker Sacha Lichine and his guru consultant Patrick Leon can one day prove me wrong, but this wine is, as far as I know (because it is inevitably breaking new ground), a perfect creation. The colour alone is exquisite – it seems to have a light filament inside, emitting a coral-coloured glow which manages to illuminate everything in its path. Garrus, made from 80+ year old vines (pictured), is a wine which treads an exquisite balancing act between awe-inspiring restraint and elegance and profound depth and unnerving power. There is spectacular density of fruit here coupled with insane length, but it is all done with heart-breaking control and finesse. Bottled only 5 weeks before my visit in late August, this is a wine which already knows how to carry itself. It is catwalk-ready and its momentum and cadence are thrilling. The oak is very sexy – I can’t think of more ravishing couture carpentry. I have no doubt that it will need another six months to a year to reach its peak of performance, but I can tell you that everyone who follows this wine will have hunted it down and secured it safely in their cellar long before this date. My advice is to buy it today and then make sure you are on allocation for the rest of your life.” 19.5/20 Matthew Jukes
