Brunello di Montalcino Mixed Case
Limited to one case per customer
As a huge admirer of Brunello di Montalcino it has been an absolute pleasure to track down this trio of fine wines over the past month, and I am now very excited to be able to share them with you.
The ambition was to put together a selection of fine, mature Brunello di Montalcino from three highly rated vintages which would be suitable for immediate drinking, but also reward further cellaring.
Each wine and vintage offers a unique expression of the region, and all are guaranteed to deliver great drinking pleasure over the coming months and years.
In this mixed case you will receive two bottles each of the following wines;
2010 Brunello di Montalcino, Scopone | 93/100 James Suckling
"Lots of licorice and blackberry character with hints of walnut and mahogany. Full body with fine tannins and a fresh finish. All in balance. Drink or hold."
2011 Brunello di Montalcino, Il Poggione | 95/100 The Wine Advocate
"Il Poggione has done a terrific job with its 2011 Brunello di Montalcino. The wine is soft, yielding and charged with a velvety and smooth texture. It is deeply redolent of dark berry, black cherry, spice, leather and tobacco. The wine's sunny personality never feels flat or too dense. In fact, the wine offers a very tight and steely backbone that gives the wine stature and strength. This is one of my favorite Brunellos from the 2011 vintage. Drink 2017 – 2035."
2012 Brunello di Montalcino ‘Montosoli’, Altesino | 95/100 The Wine Advocate
"Always a crowd pleaser, the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli is a beautifully crafted wine. It shows depth, intensity and loads of authenticity both in terms of grape variety and territory. Dark cherry and blackberry rise from the bouquet with spice, pipe tobacco and moist earth in tow. The wine is layered and nuanced. That Sangiovese authenticity comes through loud and clear on the palate. This is a mid-weight wine with polished but firm tannins and evident acidity. It shows a burst of freshness on the finish. Montosoli ages in large Slavonian oak casks for 36 months. It is fully equipped for a long aging future ahead. Drink 2018 – 2030."
