Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, Château de la Ragotière, Les Schistes 2017

75cl bottle: £10.95

Case of 12 75cl bottles: £131.40

Our sensational new wine for the perfect summer white has just arrived in stock. Over the years at From Vineyards Direct, Muscadet has been one of those wines which we have taken extra special care in selecting due to it being widely available at many different price points. We found just last month Amélie and Vincent's sensational and extremely well-priced Muscadet, 'Les Schistes' 2017 which blew us away instantly.

The wines of Chateau de la Ragotiere are particularly special and their passion and enthusiasm for crafting such delicious whites in the Loire was evident immediately when we met. This particular 'Les Schistes' stood out for us due to its elegant and yeasty character. The wine is aged on lees for 7 months and the true expression of each plot is intended to be portrayed in the wine which gives these wines their own identities, 'Les Schistes' 2017 is something to be marvelled at and for £10.95 per bottle, this is one of the best white wines to buy from our portfolio.

Our Tasting Notes

Light and pale in colour in the glass. The nose is full of fragrant, elegant citrus fruit with chalky notes and superb minerality. The palate is wonderfully flinty with the delicious combination of very subtle white blossom and a gorgeous long finish. Crisp and refreshing.

Appellation: Muscadet Sèvre et Maine
Alcohol: 12%

The former family seat of the Loré de la Ragotière family, the Château (14th century) and the thirty hectare estate were bought by the Couillaud brothers in 1979. This soil of schist and micaschist produces late-maturing and well-structured wines, particularly good for keeping.
