Château Les Moines, Cru Bourgeois, Médoc 2010
Really good and affordable Claret from the great 2010 vintage has all but disappeared from the market. Château Les Moines, however, is only released when the Château considers that wines are close to peak maturity, as it is now the case with its 2010, arguably the best vintage in the last 20 years. With over 8 years of bottle age, this top Cru Bourgeois is a shining example of how good claret at under £20 a bottle can be.
The 2010 Les Moines is full and round with a nose of dark fruits including cassis, blackberry and plum, with delicious complexity and oak influence. A rich, smooth and satisfying palate with great balance. Drink it now as it is delicious, or watch it age over the next 4 -5 years. A worthy addition to any cellar.
"A fine Cru Bourgeois claret that always goes down a storm with readers and rightly so." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
