Exclusive offer | 2019 Declassified Mixed Case
We have just released this trio from 2019, one of the great modern vintages. This is a great opportunity for us all to drink very high-class claret with an immaculate pedigree at a price that is approximately a tenth of the château label.
Imagine the wine comes from the back-cellar-door of the finest classed growth châteaux in the best communes of Bordeaux, sold with the condition that we do not name the châteaux concerned to protect their ‘grand vin’ name and pricing. They come from any surplus of cabernet sauvignon, franc or merlot and are aged for a little less time in oak barrels, making the wines more immediate and approachable, though they will equally all cellar well.
"From the finest estates in all Bordeaux. And I mean The Finest." - Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
FromVineyardDirect’s co-founder, Esme Johnston, talks us through the line-up:
"It comes from one of Margaux’s top châteaux. An expressive and elegant nose give way to layers of rich, almost burnt fruit flavours with a touch of liquorice. Very drinkable already with a long life ahead of it."
"The wine is predominantly merlot with a dash of cabernet franc. Rich and concentrated with layers of mellow red berry fruits, and a very long lingering finish that is already delicious and approachable."
"A merlot/cabernet blend from one of St Julien’s super seconds. Round smooth and rich fruit flavours with a hint of liqourice and underlying minerality. Lovely finish and beginning to drink well already with a good 7-8 years ahead it."
