Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvée Lucile Avril', Domaine Durieu 2019
The Cuvée Lucile -named after Paul Durieus mother- is a selection from the domaines best parcels of very old grenache vines. Big, dark, rich and warm in style. Whilst the broad tannic structure is prominent in its youth, there is a really vivid and profound expression of primary fruit aromas here. Lots of ripe red and black autumn berries, balanced with notes of liquorice and spice. This is a star wine, with quite a future for cellaring. (85% grenache, with mourvédre, and just a splash of syrah).
