Côtes du Rhône Rouge, E.Guigal 2018
Marcel and Philippe Guigal make some of the very finest wines in the Rhône - Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Condrieu...
Their Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2018, though only their everyday wine, is quite delicious and never disappoints. The Rhône has had a string of fine vintages and 2018 is one of them, and ready for drinking now.

How does the wine taste?
An enduring favourite with its supple, generous nature and luscious bramble fruit. This classic southern Rhône blend of syrah, grenache and mourvédre glows. Ripe, almost sweet flavours of blackberry and plum, with a touch of spice and liquorice. Lively and fresh, whilst also rich and intense. Very appealing structure but without hard edges: highly drinkable.
What do the critics say?
"Always a solid value as well as an impeccably made wine, the 2017 offers a medium ruby color as well as pretty notes of black cherries and crunchy raspberry fruits intermixed with lots of peppery garrigue and spice. It displays the charming, Provençal, medium-bodied style of the vintage nicely and is ideal for enjoying over the coming 3-4 years." (previous vintage)
Jeb Dunnuck, wine critic
"This has a remarkably serious nose; intense and sappy with a bright, juicy palate thats open and ready to go. Its well balanced and very fresh. 91/100"
