Pinot Noir, Domaine de Valmoissine, Louis Latour 2020
When I first tasted the 2020 Vintage of Louis Latour’s Domaine de Valmoissine Pinot Noir in July I wrote the following at the end of my tasting note: 'If we can offer this gorgeous Pinot Noir for under £20 a bottle or just over that we should, without hesitation, buy it'. We did just that and are now offering it for very much under £20.
A high-quality bargain for all of us - a red burgundy of a similar quality would be at least double the price.
The south-facing vineyards are in the Coteaux du Verdon close to the Gorges du Verdon (the largest canyon in Europe and utterly spectacular). At 500 meters above sea level the vineyards benefit from cool summer nights which allow the grapes to reach perfect maturity at the same time as Louis Latour's Grand Cru vineyards in Corton.
This is a gorgeous, bright pinot showing sweetish red fruit with a touch of cherry and raspberry. The overall favours combine with an elegance and finesse that make this a great wine for drinking over the next 2-3 years.

A very well made Pinot Noir as one would expect from Louis Later and a bargain at the price. Mellow and full of fruit flavours, plums and cherries to the fore. Goes very well with game. Deserves much better than an IGP classification.
