Altura 350, Domaine Peter Sichel, Pays de Cucugnan 2019
Altura 350 is the latest release by Domaine Peter Sichel, their sumptuous southern French red made of traditional varietals sourced from the exclusive ‘Cucugnan’ valley appellation that is situated at 350m above sea level deep within the greater Corbières region - hence ‘Altura 350’. The Domaine's vineyards and terroir are the best of Château Trillol, the 2015 and 2016 vintages of which many of our customers bought and enjoyed last year. The new Domaine wines are a significant step up in quality and remain brilliant value for money.
The wine is a lovely grenache, syrah and carignan blend with bags of crunchy ripe fruit and a hint of plums, strawberries and spices with a lingering finish. It will age well and is altogether a complete and delicious organic wine. The winemaker is Peter Sichel's grandson, Alexander Sichel, who continues to devote his life to crafting these wines whilst living in the near solitude of this very remote and beautiful valley.
