Chorey-Les-Beaune, Maison Jaffelin 2017
Very appealing perfumed style of burgundy, with bright red fruits , and barrel ageing adding a whisper of exotic spice. Plump and luscious in style – tannins are very well-balanced by the juicy, sweetish red fruit flavours. On of our firm favourites from the Jaffelin stable.
Jaffelins history dates to that of the Collégiale Notre Dame de Beaune (the Notre Dame collegiate church in Beaune). The Jaffelin brothers established their negociant business based at these cellars in 1816 and today our wines rest in the monastic tranquility of the Chapitres cellars, as they did eight centuries ago. The Jaffelin estate presses its grapes in a vertical wine-press; a rare, traditional technique using handmade vats. This allows for hand sewn wines coming from small villages as Rully, Santenay, Monthélie, Fixin but also best known villages such as Beaune, Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle Musigny. The quality of wine produced is consistently impressive.
