Fine Red Burgundy Mixed Case
These 3 red burgundies are good proof that one can still drink fine, rich, velvety pinot noir at affordable and not impossible prices. All are absolutely delicious, wine tasting notes are below.
These are all part of our mixed case, which includes four bottles each;
Côteaux Bourguignons 'Le Renard', Domaine Devillard 2018
This has long been the house red burgundy of Alain Ducasse's great left bank Paris bistrot Chez Allard, always served en carafe. It is a delicious pinot noir/gamay blend of Côteaux Bourguignons from a small family producer, low yields and old vines.
Rully, La Chaume, Claudie Jobard 2018
This falls very firmly into the "Hidden Gems" category. An expressive, floral pinot noir full of joyful, crunchy fruit, with a beautifully melded structure, soft and fleshy, this is delicious right now and will continue to delight for the next 2 to 3 years. Once again Claudie shows that the secret to making great pinot noir is always to be found in the vineyard first.
Mercurey Rouge, Château De Chamirey 2018
Owned by the growers who make 'Le Renard', this is their show piece premium wine from their vineyards on the south facing slopes in the heart of Mercurey. Beautifully fruity yet classic pinot on the nose, followed on the palate with an almost opulent texture, fleshy and silky with rich cherry fruit.
