Our love for the wines of the Rhône is no secret, and one could make a strong case for this as the region with the best quality for money of any in France. Our latest find is from Le Jas des Papes in Courthézon - acquired by Michel Audibert in 2014, whose family had previously been winemakers in Provence for a century.

Michel's 2017 very much caught our eye, with its striking presence, and a few more years bottle-age than many we have tried. Made principally from grenache of course, with a little syrah to add more structure. Delicious now, but with plenty of structure to tuck a few more bottle away in the cellar.

How does the wine taste? Customer Reviews (0)
Deep, dark and profound. Expressive sweet black berry fruit at first, then develops some notes of roasted meat, coffee, dark chocolate, black pepper and liquorice. Lots going on here - powerful, structured and rich to texture, but finely balanced with intense dark fruit, and a fine, savoury finish.
