Crémant de Bourgogne 'Émérite', Sainchargny 2017
The fact that you can get a vintage sparkling wine of this quality from just £15 a bottle is truly astonishing, and with prices of everything rising so much these days, this is one little luxury we can still treat ourselves to. We found the Sainchargny crémant over ten years ago at what is one of the best grower cooperatives in France, the Caves de Lugny of Mâcon. Upon tasting it, we couldn’t believe our luck. Better than very many champagnes, we thought. It’s also made from the same grape varieties and by the same techniques as their neighbours in Champagne, but in this case from vineyards located in Burgundy. Its quality remains quite outstanding with every vintage.
