Whispering Angel is the Jewel in Château d’Esclans crown. It was created to establish a range of Côtes-de-Provence rosés that would elevate the profile of the category and give it excitement and lifestyle appeal. Whispering Angel has now firmly established itself as Provence’s leading rosé with a reputation that spans all four corners of the planet.

“Perhaps a little more forward than the dramatic 2016, and yet more succulent, too, I can tell you that in the last few days of 2017, this wine is already drinking beautifully. Only three months after harvest, Whispering Angel is casting its spell with unerring accuracy and it will continue to shine in the glass and impress all-comers throughout 2018.” - 17.5/20 Matthew Jukes

About

Patrick and his son, Bertrand Léon, now Technical Director at Caves d’Esclans, describe the wine as, “Very pale [in colour], with slightly orange reflections and an expressive nose with an abundance of freshness. The palate follows through with citrus notes ‒ fresh but without aggressiveness or acidity. The 2016 vintage of Whispering Angel is balanced, smooth, round and supple, unusually fresh for a rosé and with plenty of minerality on the finish.”.

"FVD is offering this extraordinary wine en primeur until 28th February and I am told that these prices represent a significant saving on the eventual retail pricing structure for this terrific vintage. Whispering Angel is the world’s most famous rosé and it has an unenviable task set before it each year – to raise its own bar..." - Matthew Jukes

"The vineyards used for this elite rosé are set in and around the heart of La Motte de Provence. Thankfully they are privy to cooling sea breezes and this phenomenon helped ameliorate the mid-morning summer heat. The resulting harvest of Grenache, Rolle and Cinsault, which took place throughout September, was near perfect. As always the trick with Whispering Angel is winemaker Patrick Léon and his son Bertrand’s incredible optical sorting disciplines and exceptional temperature control systems. The results are truly staggering. The colour is the palest coral pink. The texture is fast-becoming a d’Esclans hallmark – gossamer silk with magical slipperiness offset with tangy, citrus pink grapefruit notes and cool, river-stone minerality. This is a perfect Whispering Angel and it will appeal from the moment it is poured into your glass until the last sunset next summer. (drink now-2017)" - 18/20 Matthew Jukes on the 2016 vintage

"Roses the nose has a hint of smoke the start palate has raspberry and loganberry freshness. There is a richer feel to the mid palate wild strawberries and tangerines a mix of flavours interest. Bright at the back the fruit is fresh the finish has fragrant charm." - Derek Smedley MW, 91 Points

"Although Whispering Angel is known for being a rather fashionable bottle, it's equally suited at home at a relaxed garden party among friends. You'll find it insanely moreish when the sun starts shining." BBC Good Food, Henry Jeffreys
