Vintage Claret 2020
When I was in Bordeaux last week, I re-tasted the new Vintage Claret 2022 with Jonathan Maltus and his son Jack at Le Dome in Saint-Émilion (scroll down to watch the short clip). We all agreed that their new vintage tasted better now than it did before it was bottled.
Jonathan only makes their Vintage Claret in the very best vintages - and 2022 is without question one. He sources and blends the wine from vineyards in and around Saint-Émilion and vinifies it to be fruit forward (mostly Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc) and drinkable when young, which it most certainly is.
With lashings of rich, ripe fruit, soft tannins, and a long finish, the 2022 is gorgeous, and why all of us at FromVineyardsDirect recommend it so highly.
