Offer | 2010 Château Carcanieux, Médoc
The fantastic 2010 vintage has proved a very happy hunting ground for us when looking for really good drinking Bordeaux. With over a decade of maturity, there isn't a great deal of 2010 around, but with a bit of hard work (yes, really!) and extensive tasting, there are some fine parcels still hidden away. Our latest find is Château Carcanieux from the Médoc, which has just been shipped, and is perfect for current drinking.
This is a great advertisement for the vintage - nicely developed, but also with plenty of presence and stuffing, partnering ripe, luscious cassis fruit, with maturity adding layers of cedar, and savoury spice. One of the best 2010s we've tasted at this level, and very much one for the claret-lover. An absolute snip, at under £20 a bottle.

"The Carcanieux 2010 has a light, floral bouquet that is well defined. It is pretty and feminine, offering teasing scents of raspberry coulis and redcurrant. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tensile tannins. There is great harmony here whilst the finish is cohesive and nicely poised. This is very fine almost Saint Estèphe-like in style."
