Château Malaire 'Cuvée Grande Réserve', Médoc 2009
Good drinking claret from the legendry 2009 vintage has all but disappeared from the market. Earlier this year we found the brilliant Château Malaire 2009 from the Médoc to fill an important gap in our claret range and have bought all the Château’s remaining stock.
It is a delicious mature claret with a good few years to go. Here is our tasting note:
A showy, voluptuous claret - very clearly from a warm, expressive vintage, but still with striking freshness and fine balance. Bright, luscious cassis fruit, and a touch of cedar and subtle spice - classically Médoc with good texture, and fine-grained tannins. Good winemaking at work here - not overcooked, given the vintage, and very stylish. Flavours continually expand an evolve. This is a classy Médoc.
All in all, a high quality, mature claret from a great vintage - and something of a bargain, what’s more. Undoubtedly one that all the team at FromVineyardsDirect will be drinking this season!
