While many wine merchants will say their very favourite cuvées are from Alsace, these are wines still unknown to most drinkers. Unless, of course, a drinker has been lucky enough to experience this remote, enchanting corner of eastern France, with its picturesque villages, superlative cuisine and beech forests that spread across the rolling Vosges mountains. I've known Alsace and its wines well since I was a teenager, and I always want to go back.
