David & Esme's Christmas Mixed Case
With Christmas just over a month away, we put our heads together to pick out our favourite wines to go into this, our Festive Mixed Case. See full details below.
'Sacromonte' Rosso, Castello di Potentino, Tuscany 2016
Sangiovese at its best from Potentino, in Tuscany. Rich, organic and irresistible!
Mâcon Uchizy, Domaine Talmard, Burgundy 2022
A lovely Mâcon, and probably the best there is. From top-grower Domaine Talmand. It has a creamy, mineral backbone. Perfect with shellfish and smoked salmon, or on its own.
Château Ramafort Cru Bourgeois Médoc Bordeaux 2015
My favourite claret at below £20 a bottle. A tad better than their 2010, of which we sold over 2,000 cases! Rich, concentrated and mature and most importantly delicious.
Château de l'Hospital, Graves Rouge 2016
I have always loved good Graves as much or more than any other Bordeaux appellation. This will be drinking perfectly with partridges, venison and of course, turkey.
Chablis 1er cru Beauroy, Domaine de la Motte 2021
I'm always impressed how 70% of Frances oyster consumption happens over the festive period, and when you have so fine a food-pairing 1er Cru Chablis as De la Mottes, you can see why. I find it equally delicious with langoustines and foie gras.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvée Lucile Avril', Domaine Durieu 2019
Fine Rhône is the quintessential red to enjoy over Christmas and this Châteauneuf is undoubtedly a shining example.
