Contino Reserva, CVNE, Rioja 2017
The Contino Reserva 2017 is Rioja at its very best. The tempranillo, and 10% of the increasingly fashionable, but difficult to grow graciano grapes are all grown on the limestone estate around the fine old manor house overlooking the Ebro river. No herbicides are used, only organic fertilisers to produce what is a really lovely wine and a fine alternative to good Bordeaux.
Their white Rioja (found here) from the viura grape is a full, lovely wine that will appeal to all who love good white burgundy, and to those who regret its scarcity and high price. An elegant wine with great richness and layers, delicious to drink now, and one that will also age wonderfully.
