Les Clans, Château d'Esclans, Provence 2019
Epitomising a sophisticated, food driven wine made from Grenache and Rolle (Vermentino), Les Clans (entirely fermented and aged in large French oak barrels) represents a particular disconnect with rosé in general as it is quite remarkable with potential to age or, if tempted, to enjoy with great pleasure sooner rather than later. This wine is both rich and exotic while being full bodied and elegant.
The Stradivarius of rosé, lightly oak aged, Les Clans sings quality. If you tasted this blindfold you would simply not guess that it was a rosé and would probably plump for a good white Burgundy or possibly a Condrieu. It has wonderful subtle fruit flavour sand a creaminess that you don't normally associate with rosé it will also age beautifully over the next 3-5 years. Perfect with indulgent dishes such as Dover sole or lobster.
