Although Rioja remains the flagship red wine of Spain, over the last several years the country has enjoyed a delicious resurgence in quality across its many other, lesser-known denominaçiones (‘DOCs’). Such that through the exceptional value and craftsmanship they show in unique blends of traditional and international grape varietals, these previously unsung regions are now gaining the attention they’ve long deserved. We’ve certainly been paying attention, so are delighted to feature here a few delights from Calatayud, Catalunya, and Priorat, along with what we feel is one of the best-value Riojas we’ve come across in a long while. All quite supreme with festive leg of lamb.
