Montagny 1er Cru, Domaine Des Vignes Bleues 2022
To quote Old Blue Eyes, two-thousand twenty-two was a very good year. A top vintage. A 1985 Burgundy or a 1982 Bordeaux. It was an annus mirabilis...

Well, thats a good start. Enter Domaine Les Vignes Bleues 2022 Montagny 1er Cru and that start just got better. Because not only the Domaines 2022 now entered our warehouse, but for just over £20/bottle (as part of our special price) heres a cuvée to offer ever more of the freshness, rich creaminess and underlying minerality that had us swooning over their 2020.
Swoon on, we say: in the 2022, this Les Vignerons de Buxy co-operatives estate once again shows its prowess in finding the utmost terroir expression of this mere 285-hectare Côte Chalonnaise appellation - where only an exclusive 5.6 hectares are classified Premier Cru. Exclusive fruit in one sumptuous chardonnay.
And when that fruit comes from the warm, opulent, plentiful vintage our famed critic cites above, this makes for a white Burgundy especially unmissable at this price. One whose quality would easily cost over a third more were it a Puligny, Chassagne or Meursault. Its yet another example of the supreme value for money the Côte Chalonnaise continues to offer whilst prices in more famed communes continue to rise.
