Château Beaurivage, Minervois 2020
When I tasted Château Beaurivage 2020 from Minervois last month I was so impressed with both the quality and (low) price that I immediately ordered a case for myself - and will shortly be ordering a second case Minervois sits to the north of the famous Canal du Midi, alongside Corbières, and is the most famous appellation with the Languedoc.
The blend is mostly from over 20 year old syrah vines, with grenache and carignan adding a hint of spice making this an extremely generous, full-bodied red that hugely defies its price tag. For me, it's the balance that really elevates a wine to greatness, and the Beaurivage is exactly that. Its lusciously sweet, dark cherry and plum fruit comes through straight away, staying smooth and ripe, right through to a wonderfully long finish. Velvety soft, there are simply no edges to this wine as it effortlessly delivers layer after layer of flavour.
You are in for a treat here and I strongly recommend you buy a case - and like me you will soon be ordering your second case.
