Hochar Pere et Fils Rouge, Chateau Musar, Bekaa Valley 2019
A glorious, rich red from the great Hochar family and their wondrous vineyard, and at an unusually good price. Hochar 2019 is Chateau Musar's second wine made from a blend of single vineyard cinsault, grenache and cabernet sauvignon from the Bekaa Valleys finest terroir. Such authentic, world-class quality from Lebanons most historic and revered winemaking family has never been more accessible.
From vines grown on deep, limestone-based soils, these three, hand-harvested grape varieties are vinified separately with nine months in Nevers (French) oak, then blended - as with Musar’s Grand Vin - to reflect vintage character. The cuvée is unfined, unfiltered, and is after two years of bottle maturation a wine in supreme condition for drinking with roast lamb, duck, grilled pork dishes and all manner of charcuterie.
