An extremely appealing pinot for both Burgundy lovers and red wine fans in general. One that could easily be mistaken for a Bourgogne rouge when in fact it comes from the Vin de Pays d’Oc. Given the added warmth of this southerly region, its colour is enticingly darker than what you will find on the Côte d’Or. Yet everything that defines it as a Pinot Noir comes through beautifully, with attractive morello cherry flavours exploding across the palate in comfortable layers. An indisputable gem in our range.

How does the wine taste? Customer Reviews (0)
Softly-textured, juicy, crunchy red fruit with just a hint of tobacco leaf and winter spice, this is an eminently drinkable and pleasurable pinot. The best places to produce this delicate grape variety are always on the cool side, and here the altitude of the vineyard and influence from the ocean slow down the ripening season and keep the alcohol levels relatively low and the acidity lively. The result is you'll struggle not to finish the bottle!

"A Pinot from the Languedoc, this has certainly retained freshness and edge in the heat of the south, with only 12.5% alcohol and a crisp, herb and red fruit nose. It's a Pinot in an authentically light- to medium-bodied style, fragrant and staying crisp and refreshing. The antithesis of 'blockbuster', but lovely of its style."

"The 2020 Racine Pinot Noir from Nos Vins du Sud - the Languedocian collaboration between Burgundian Bruno Lafon and Bordelais Francois Chamboissier - comes from high-altitude vineyards between the Pyrenees and the Montagne Noire and is light, fresh, succulent and savoury. It doesn't have the complexity of Burgundy but nor does it have the price tag, being made to be knocked back and enjoyed, un vrai vin de comptoir."
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine Previous vintage
