Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie 2018
Comte Leloup from 100-year-old vines at Bernard Chéreau's Château Chasseloir is, we think, the best muscadet there is. The grapes are picked by hand and aged with their lees to give richness and more body than you usually find in a muscadet. As Hugh Johnson has written, Muscadet has everything that should make serious wine-drinkers happy. It is a total individual, its tang of the ocean... perfectly matched to its ordained role as the seafood wine par excellence. (Hugh Johnson on Wine: Good Bits from 55 Years of Scribbling, 2016). Their new 2018 is rich and refreshing with complex flavours - a very great muscadet that we should all be drinking.
