Château Bauduc Sauvignon Blanc 2021
Château Bauduc Sauvignon Blanc 2021 has risen to the top of our best-selling white wines over the summer, alongside Mâcon-Péronne 2020, and with good reason as it is delicious. I have a bottle in my fridge waiting for this evening. At the château, they are now midway through the 2022 harvest, having already picked all their white grapes. Early reports are that fruit quality is very high. Their 2021 will be a hard act to follow. Fingers crossed!
Bauduc’s 2021 vintage is, in my opinion, the best they have ever made, and I have been drinking their sauvignon blanc for 25 years. The weather at harvest time was perfect, allowing them to pick their sauvignon (95%) and semillon (5%) at optimum ripeness. The result is a gloriously sophisticated, rich, creamy and fresh wine but still with that sauvignon bite that doesn’t overwhelm the other complex flavours in the wine.
Similar to white Graves? Yes, but much better than any at under £20 a bottle. Well done Angela and Gavin, a triumph this year. We are trying to increase our allocation but everyone wants it. A good reason to order a decent quantity now.

A terrific wine full of fruit, flavour and depth. A reliable everyday white and my favourite. A reminder of how good Bordeaux white can be
